What is the Security Bank Scholarship?
The Security Bank Foundation “Scholars for Better Communities” scholarship is a merit-based college scholarship program of Security Bank Corporation that supports outstanding Filipino students pursuing careers in banking, finance, data, engineering, and technology. For A.Y. 2026–2027, the program is open to incoming first-year students and selected continuing college students at 8 partner universities nationwide.
The scholarship is distinguished by its industry-aligned focus scholars are being developed as future professionals for the banking and financial services sector, with internship access and leadership programs built into the grant package.
Scholarship benefits
Benefits differ depending on whether your partner school is a State University and College (SUC) or a private university.
| State Universities (SUCs) |
|---|
| Tuition – Free (under Free Tuition Law) |
| Stipend / half-sem – ₱25,000 |
| Est. monthly – ~₱5,000 / month |
| Max annual Up to ₱100,000 |
| Private Universities |
|---|
| Tuition support – Up to ₱100,000 / year |
| Stipend / half-sem – ₱12,500 |
| Est. monthly – ~₱2,500 / month |
| Max annual stipend – Up to ₱50,000 |
SUC vs Private: Which gives more total value?
At first glance, private university scholars seem to get more (up to ₱150,000 in combined tuition + stipend). But SUC scholars get free tuition anyway under RA 10931 meaning the ₱100,000 annual benefit on top of free tuition is almost entirely cash in hand. If you are admitted to both UP Diliman (SUC) and a private partner school, UP Diliman’s scholarship package delivers higher real cash value. Run the numbers before deciding.

Eligibility requirements
The triple GWA requirement
Security Bank’s academic requirements are stricter than most scholarships you must clear three separate grade thresholds, not just one overall average.
| Requirement | Minimum Grade | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Overall GWA | 93% | Minimum General Weighted Average (or equivalent) |
| Individual Subject Grade | 86% | No subject grade should be below 86% |
| Aligned Subjects (Grades 7–12) | 90% | Subjects aligned with your chosen course must have grades of 90% or higher |
Children of Security Bank employees are not eligible. This exclusion applies regardless of academic performance or financial need. If either parent or a guardian is employed by Security Bank Corporation, you cannot apply.
Documentary requirements
- High School Grade 7 – 12 Transcript of Records, must show GWA. Grade 12 grades may be submitted up to December 2025 if full 2026 grades are not yet available.
- Latest Income Tax Return (ITR)
- of both parents or legal guardian (if employed)
- Certificate of Indigency for unemployed parents or guardians
- Proof of application, admission, or enrollment
- in any partner school
- PSA Birth Certificate
- Recent portrait photo
Pro tip – the Grade 7 – 12 TOR requirement is unusual
Most scholarships only ask for your Senior High School grades. Security Bank Foundation requires your complete Grades 7 through 12 Transcript of Records covering all of junior and senior high school. This means you need records from at least two different schools if you moved from a public JHS to a private SHS (or vice versa). Request TORs from both schools as early as possible junior high school records can sometimes take weeks to process, especially from larger public schools. Do not wait until the deadline week to discover a missing JHS TOR.
